Overview
Blunt trauma to the eye causes anterior-posterior compression of the eye and lateral expansion. This causes a sharp increase in intraocular pressure (IOP) and also puts pressure on the structurally weaker areas of the eye - the lens, iris root and trabecular meshwork.
