The presence of oedema at the macula should also lead to consideration of macular-specific conditions such as Macular telangiectasia 2, neovascular AMD, vitreomacular traction and epiretinal membrane. Additional conditions associated with macular oedema should also be considered, including x-linked retinoschisis, retinitis pigmentosa, choroideraemia, gyrate atrophy and congenital optic disc pit maculopathy.
